Nespresso strengthens its cooperation with Fairtrade and launches a permanent range of certified coffee ‘Master Origin Indonesia’- Mastered by Craftsmen, Inspired by the Land. It is sourced from a Fairtrade certified Indonesian cooperative- Ara Cahayani Gayo. This collaboration enables more than 1000 coffee growers to improve their living and working conditions.
The introduction of ‘Master Origin Indonesia’ is the result of a history of close cooperation between Fairtrade and Nespresso, where the focus is on coffee growers as well as improving their working and living conditions.
In 2017, coffee growers founded the Fairtrade –Ara Cahayani Gayo cooperative in the Aceh province of Indonesia with the support of Nespresso and Fairtrade. The “Master Origin Indonesia” coffee comes from this cooperative. The latter offers members training in the field of productivity and quality which contributes to a higher family income in the long run.
One of the projects financed through the Fairtrade Premium involves the construction of a reception unit where school children are taken care of, until their parents finish working. As a first step, the offer will include volleyball and badminton, and then cultural themes will be introduced. The reception unit will be accessible not only to the members of the cooperative, but also to everyone.
