SRI PROM Project is an initiative by ICEI in partnership with Fairtrade Italy and other Italian partners. It is financed by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation is launched in Sri Lanka in association with Network of Asia and Pacific Producers (NAPP).

This project will support Fairtrade certified Small Producer Organizations through the development of highly profitable, eco-sustainable supply chains and a strong market base in Italy.

Participation of Fairtrade Producers in National Industrial Exhibition in Sri Lanka

Fairtrade NAPP facilitated the participation of its producers from Sri Lanka in the National Industrial Exhibition in Colombo. The event was organised in Sri Lanka from 3rd to 6th February 2022 by the Industrial Development Board.

The Trade fair was led under the  SRI PROM Project- an initiative by ICEI in partnership with Fairtrade Italy and other Italian partners in association with the Network of Asia and Pacific Producers (NAPP), and financed by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

The main focus of the trade fair was to provide market support to the producers by creating local awareness of Fairtrade and its products that can help them maximize their sales growth and enter the new market.

NAPP had a formal booth for 4 days to connect traders, retailers, and other supply chain actors with the Primary producers and value addition stakeholders and to provide knowledge on certification advisory to the visitors.

Sri Lanka Domestic Market Linkage Initiative under SRI PROM Project:
Meeting with Government and private supermarket chains

With an aim to expand and access the domestic markets, a meeting was organised by Fairtrade NAPP to connect Fairtrade herbs, herbal tea, spices and tea producers and traders with the Govt. and private Super Market chains in Sri Lanka. The activity was one of the key  B2b Collaborations efforts under the SRI Prom Project.

The B2B meetings included the introduction of the Fairtrade standards and trade requirements to the supermarket chains, one to one meeting between the supermarket representatives and traders,  followed by an overall discussions on the initiatives and strategies for local market initiatives.

It was attended by members of Greenfield Bio Plantations (Pvt) Ltd.,-Green Field Estate, Harrington Estate of Greenfield Bio Plantations (Pvt) Ltd., Horana Plantations PLC

Post the meeting the suppliers agreed to meet all the Area General Sales Managers of the super markets and provide samples for verification.
