Participation of Network of Asia and Pacific Producers (NAPP) at Green Business Forum in Philippines, South East Asia

Network of Asia and Pacific Producers (NAPP) was invited by ‘The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Govt. of Philippines’  and  ‘Export Marketing Bureau’s Emerging Products Division, Philippines’ for the –‘Green Business Forum in General Santos City’  from June 26-27, 2019.

NAPP was represented by its Program Officer from Philippines who presented about the overall Fairtrade system, its certification process and programs and services in the country for certified Small Farmer Organizations.

The event was attended by small-medium enterprises, exporters, cooperatives from across the Country. The overall sessions included topics on Green Business Certification – Sustainability and voluntary standards certification. Fairtrade & Organic Certification, Basics of Exporting & Branding.

The major exports from Philippines consist of fresh/frozen/canned pineapple and tuna,  fresh bananas, coconut, copra pallets, cut flowers, asparagus, okra, abaca pulp, garments and wooden house-ware products.

The overall agenda of the event was to ensure optimum awareness, application and benefit of – Green Certification for these diverse range of products and the processes involved for the farmers organisations to successfully place themselves in their targeted foreign markets.
